#CHILDHOOD
Got some amazing news this morning and needed to shout to the world...

Grad school is going to happen!

I’m pleased to say (and type it) out loud that thanks to the generosity of people who had no obligation whatsoever to help me conquer this dream I’ll be starting graduate school this coming May.

I’m still a little numb, very scared, and so so happy!

“I keep telling myself that it’ll be fine, you can’t make everybody happy all of the time, but I have found myself in a place that I’ve never been, a place that I thought that I would never be, there’s people looking down at me.” —The Avett Brothers: Paranoia in B Major (via idliketolivebeneaththedirt)

“Well, you know the way I see it, if you’re here for four more years or four more weeks, you’re here right now. You know? And I think when you’re somewhere you ought to be there, and because it’s not about how long you stay in a place. It’s about what you do while you’re there, and when you go is that place any better for you having been there?” —

“Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back. Say no when you don’t want to do something. Say yes if your instincts are strong, even if everyone around you disagrees. Decide whether you want to be liked or admired. Decide if fitting in is more important than finding out what you’re doing here.” —Eve Ensler (via bloodisthenewblackk)

“The desire to collect information on customers is not new for Target or any other large retailer, of course. For decades, Target has collected vast amounts of data on every person who regularly walks into one of its stores. Whenever possible, Target assigns each shopper a unique code — known internally as the Guest ID number — that keeps tabs on everything they buy. “If you use a credit card or a coupon, or fill out a survey, or mail in a refund, or call the customer help line, or open an e-mail we’ve sent you or visit our Web site, we’ll record it and link it to your Guest ID,” Pole said. “We want to know everything we can.” —

[…]” —Clarice Lispector   (via pequenas-poesias)
